Doing something different.

 Doing something different.

I am not one to stand still when it comes to image editing, I look for different ways to do things in Adobe Lightroom and PhotoShop all the time, and if it works better then the way I do things I will change to that method, or incorporate into my workflow.

YouTube.

Well I have found a different way of processing using the Tone curve first before you get into the basic panel in Lightroom, I got this method from Greg Whitton on YouTube, and I like the way it makes the changes to the image, and when you take it to the basic panel you don’t need to move the sliders far, I have been moving the Highlights slider to -100% on nearly all my images to get the sky back, with this I move it -10-15%.

S curve.

This is processed the old way.

Now after using the Tone curve and making a S curve you can see the contrast lift on the image, then its easy in the basic panel to refine the image, I think it works on quite a few of my images that I have tried so far, it’s very subtle but makes a good difference, I think I will use it and see how we get on.
