Visiting some old Collieries

Old disused colliery

Last month Martin and I went to the old disused colliery in Hatfield Nr Doncaster and had a walk around, and it brought back some memories, of when I was driving an artic tipper loading coal out of there, I must have been going in at least 3 to 4 times a week for years. I managed to get some good images, I took 170 and used 25 for Getty and Adobe so productive. “Images here”

I need to slow down a bit when out with the camera, as I seem to look at something and snap! Instead of taking my time thinking about the shot before I press the button, and use my tripod more as at the moment I just carry the camera and blast away.

This week we went to Mansfield in Nottinghamshire but the location was not what Martin thought, so we had a rethink. And Pleasley was close so went to Pleasley pit, a place we last visited in 2002, and it was a bit of a mess, but now it’s open to the public, and the winding house is very impressive, I did manage to get some good images. “Images here”. Also, I practised my time-lapse photography.

I would like to do more time-lapse work but the software is a bit expensive so I think it will have to be iMovie! It works but not perfect.
